Global Brand Director
THE OPPORTUNITY
A leading global beauty and cosmetic company with offices in Toronto, is looking for a creative, enthusiastic Global Brand Director for an exciting beauty and cosmetic brand. This individual is detail oriented, self-starter and very passionate about developing new products that drive business impact. We are looking for agile and innovative individuals, who are able to thrive in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold and strategic moves in this rapidly evolving industry.
The Company is an established beauty company, creating high quality, professional hair care products (shampoos, conditioners, stylers, etc.) sold in major retailers worldwide. As a Global Brand Director, you will be part of a company that welcomes and cultivates new ideas and approaches. You will be joining a fast-paced, on-trend Marketing team who loves what they do because they are passionate about all things beauty and trends. Must be well-organized, a strong and savvy communicator who lives and breathes brand and product development. We are growing and need someone that can hit the ground running!
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Brand Building: Champion the brand and its purpose clearly and effectively to drive change and accelerate growth.
Lead the development of brand management processes and capabilities, including competitive analysis, architecture mapping, planning, measurement / ROI, standards and governance.
Brand ownership of the vision, mission, goals and strategies.
Champion the brand internally and externally making sure all elements of the company and external stakeholders understand the brand and its goals.
Manage the brand’s product image library, graphics, video assets.
New Product Development: Identify and leverage customer, category and competitive insights to create innovative products
Analyze and understand the market, sales data, and industry trends to be able to align the vision for the brand within the corporate architecture.
Creative thinkers who take initiative and are capable of building, launching and managing projects and programs that drive results for our customers.
Develop and execute new product innovation from the ideation stage through launch.
Collaborate with sales colleagues to translate consumer, retailer and shopper understanding into innovative effective concepts and brand ideas.
Manage the artwork and packaging development and coordinating approvals with key stakeholders.
Manage marketing research, following up on product launches and promotional activity to provide the Management team with regular quantitative and qualitative reports.
Managing and tracking R&D budgets to ensure programs meet objectives.
Communication Strategy: Develop and translate the brand voice throughout all marketing activations to ensure the brand is accurately represented.
Develop high quality and effective marketing materials that align correctly with the overall brand strategy.
Lead the development and implementation of innovation strategies and promotional elements that drive sales.
Provide support in the implementation of comprehensive marketing communications strategies, including all new product launches.
Business Management/ Analytic: Drive insightful brand health and market opportunity conversations, rooted in data and inspired by the brand.
Problem solvers with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives.
Conduct in-depth analysis of competitors, category, market, consumers, products to garner insights, to feed into the development of new products, go-to-market plans, and develop strategic initiatives.
Establish performance specifications, cost and price parameters, market applications and sales estimates forecasts.
Analyze sales and market data to give key updates on the business and category (Nielsen, POS, IRI, Consumer, Customer) on a regular basis and keeping the team apprised of any key issues/opportunities or competitive actions.
Evaluate the performance of executed strategic programs and campaigns to ascertain their effectiveness in meeting brand objectives.
Track performance, identify issues, trends and opportunities, and continuously improving plans and their execution.
Special Projects & Functional Assignments: Collaborative team players with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward.
Prepare and deliver presentations for key meetings and senior management.
Working closely with cross functional teams, including Sales, Graphics, Finance, Operations etc.
WHO YOU ARE
BS/BA (Business, Social Sciences - Psychology, Sociology, Economics), MBA preferred
2+ years’ experience in beauty and/or consumer products marketing
5+ years' experience in Brand Management
Track record of managing new products from concept development to shelf, managing multiple aspects of product commercialization process
Knowledge of category (major competitors, target users, industry trends) preferred
Strong project management skills
Understanding of retail and shopper dynamics in Canada and US
Analyzing POS data
Budget management
Previous experience in the beauty industry preferred
Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience with US retail channels is a must
