Director, Digital Marketing

 

Background

Our client is looking for a new Director, Digital Marketing to lead their digital marketing strategy as they embark on their 140th year in business as a trusted source for Canadian organizations to find exactly what they need to move their business forward.

As Director, Digital Marketing, you’ll leverage your expertise and passion for digital marketing to build the brand and drive results while constantly finding new ways to drive lead generation and provide engaging experiences to consumers through digital programs.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing and Merchandising, the successful candidate will be a driving force of the organizations digital marketing efforts. You bring experience optimizing content, building out lead generation programs, and elevating Account Based Marketing (ABM) in a complex B2B environment.

Critical to success in role will be the ability to understand the customer buying journey, which may differ by line of business, and build appropriate marketing plans in alignment to organizational objectives.

You translate insights into strategy and create digital programs that drive transformational growth for the business and brand.  As an experienced and motivating team leader, you’ll manage up to 8 direct reports as well as external agency contacts. You’ll bring out the best in your team and tap into areas of expertise to create a cohesive and standout digital marketing strategy that ties to organization goals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Create digital strategies that build awareness of the brand and accelerate growth in emerging lines of business, including Technology, Facility Supplies, Furniture and Services.  Develop a deep understanding of customers and buying / decision making behavior.  Leverage customer insights to develop a content and ABM strategy that supports business objectives and builds brand credibility as Success Experts. 

  • Plan, manage and execute performance marketing campaigns (paid search, SEO, paid social, display, video ads, email, etc.) to support businesses goals and objectives.

  • Partner across the business to develop and understand B2B customer buying journey. Develop rigorous A/B test plans to draw insights critical for growth, including optimized content and appropriate audience segmentation.

  • Set clear KPIs and define measures of success, reporting on results and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.  Maximize use of analytics, customer feedback, social listening, and business trend data to drive positive outcomes.

  • Create, implement, and analyze marketing automation programs.  Drive continuous improvement in use and integration of marketing technology stack. Collaborate with sales leadership and sales operations teams to maximize performance and connectivity of existing marketing & sales automation tools.

  • Lead and develop a team of high-performing marketers; motivate and coach for success, while ensuring executional success.

  • Identify and evaluate need for alternative channel marketing initiatives, including printed catalogue, tradeshow participation, association memberships, etc.

What You Bring:

  • University degree or community college diploma in business or marketing.

  • 8+ years experience in digital marketing and leading high-performance teams.

  • Advanced data and trend analysis experience.

  • Proven track record in managing large scale performance marketing programs.

  • Advanced knowledge of Marketo, Google and Microsoft marketing platforms, Social Management tools (LinkedIn, Facebook).

  • Experience creating digital marketing programs within complex, multi category, B2B environments.

  • Excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills and be able to present complex topics.

  • Advanced understanding of sales lead-generation conversion funnels.

  • Must have a desire to develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the products and services offered as well as those offered by the competition.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the industry, the current trends, and leverage that information to deliver digital programs.

  • Ability to develop professional relationships and exert this influence for a favorable decision.

  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
