Bilingual Senior Product Designer
CURRENT SITUATION
Our Client is looking for a bilingual Senior Product Designer who can be the star of the Product Design team. You will help create functional and attractive products that will enable and encourage shrimp farmers to be more successful and produce more sustainably with AI products. You get to help feed the world while saving the planet by being savvy in executing and leading user research products in English and Spanish. You’ll get to travel to Ecuador four times a year and have a deep understanding of research data, collaborating with other teams members, owning and executing design process. Types of projects include research and working on mobile and web apps. You will be refining and ensuring success and support for UX, UI and visual design stages with ease and enthusiasm.
You’ll report to the Director of Product Design, and will work primarily with product managers responsible for shrimp farmer products, as well as agency partners, farmers in Ecuador and other team members.

They work across the $37 billion shrimp farming industry to help businesses grow with financial products and empower farmers to increase the supply of sustainably produced shrimp, leveraging technology including artificial intelligence / machine learning and computer vision to do so. JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS
You’ll work mostly remotely with the preference of being close to Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City or Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Senior Product Designer is accountable for the successful delivery of research and design.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Work with our client’s product teams to create useful, usable, and desirable products that will enable and encourage people in the shrimp industry to produce more sustainably
Focus on shrimp farmers in Ecuador, including farm monitoring and management
Occasionally work on projects in other areas of the business
2. Help execute or lead user research projects, in Spanish or English, remotely or in-person in Ecuador
Conduct ethnography, interviews, prototype evaluation, usability testing, etc.
Collaborate with other cross-functional team members who have user research experience
3. Collaboratively analyze research data, and findings from other sources, to discover meaningful and actionable insights to drive product concepts and design
Communicate insights through presentations, journey maps, personas, or other similar artifacts
Consider findings from other sources: voice-of-customer program, our farmer-in-residence program, analytics, interviews with experts, and secondary research
4. Contribute to your workstream’s product strategy and prioritization on an ongoing basis
5. Own and execute the design process
Develop and present design concepts through working sessions, concept models, storyboards, low fidelity wireframes, and prototypes
Create detailed wireframes or mockups that depict the final solution in medium or high fidelity
Conduct evaluative research on your designs and iterate based on findings
Manage stakeholder reviews, feedback, and alignment throughout
Ensure that your deliverables are consumable by others on the project team
Provide design support to the engineering team in an agile development environment
6. Help to continuously improve our processes and tools to increase impact, transparency, and efficiency
Where
You’ll work remotely, but being located in Canada (near Montreal, Quebec City or Toronto) or Ecuador (near Guayaquil) is preferred as this is where our teams are based
Travel 10-2% of the time (primarily to/within Ecuador)
Outcomes – What success looks like
By 6 months
You’ll have a solid understanding of the shrimp industry, including farm management, sustainability, and financial aspects, gained in part through in-person visits to shrimp farms in Ecuador (subject to travel restrictions and pandemic safety)
You’ve led research and design for at least two new product offerings that have measurably beneficial outcomes for shrimp farmers
You’re participating in product strategy and roadmap discussions and workshops on an ongoing basis
You’ve contributed measurable improvements to aour client’s design and product team’s effectiveness and efficiency
By 12 months
You’ve proposed a novel new product offering that is desirable for our clients, plus viable and feasible for our business to offer; you leading the full design process through to launch.
·You’ve done work across all of our different product offerings.
You’re helping to onboard and mentor new hires and junior design team members.
What You Bring:
You’re intensely curious, humble, open to continuous learning, and passionate about sustainability. Plus you have:
4+ years of solid product design or UX experience, including both design and user research.
Experience conceptualizing and designing new products based on user research and business objectives.
Ability to speak Spanish fluently and technically so you can talk to the farmers in Ecuador about usability and design.
Experience conducting both generative and evaluative research.
UI/visual design experience, including the handover of design assets to development.
A portfolio of work that demonstrates your work and process.
Figma, Sketch, Axure, or similar tools.
Ability to communicate insights, concepts, and design decisions clearly and persuasively to different audiences at varying levels of the organization.
Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively, as required, through the design process.
Ability to pick up new domain knowledge quickly (yes, we will teach you all about the shrimp industry).
A thirst and thrill for traveling 4x a year, 7-10 days at a time.
Bonus Points
Post-secondary or graduate degree in user experience, design, user research, or related fields.
Start-up experience where you helped to commercialize new products.
Experience in aquaculture/agriculture, financial services, and/or supply chain management.

Must have:
Spanish: You have the skills to speak technically and conversationally in order to streamline the process with farmers and the client’s staff
